I have a fedders air conditioner model # XXXXX The problem is that it works fine for an hour or so and then it freezes up and stops blowing air or it shuts itself off. I have no manual for this as it was given to me last year and it worked great. Any ideas on how to solve this problem would be appreciated.
is this a window unit and can you remove the grill and slide it out?
yes it is we did that yesterday to clean out any dirt or dust laying around in it but it didnt help. we did not take anything apart though
did you wash out the front and back coils?
no they did not look dirty
take it outside and hose out the coils and advoid the electronics and let it dry and reinstall the ac ,,, if it ice over after this then the ac has a freaon leak and that will cause it to ice up and quit cooling ,,, if its less than 5 years old and you have the papers on it then you can get it repaired at no charge to you ,,, if its over 5 years or no papers on it you will need to get a cfc/hvac tech like myself to come out, tap the lines, try to find the leak, patch it and recharge the system ,,,, thanks Larryi'll be on and off here all day if you need me / thanks again
