My Whirlpool ET8MHKXMT03 refrigerator is not connected to outside water. The freezer gets wet and ice build up. The water leaks down into the refrigerator section below. Something appears plugged up in the freezer section not letting moisture drain properly. I don't know how to gain access to what might need clearing out.
you are exactly correct. Your defrost drain line is frozen over and overflowing now that it can't drain anymore. To correct the issue you need to remove everything inside the freezer. Then you will need to remove the back panel inside the freezer. Thaw everything out with a hair dryer and pour hot water down the drain hole so that you can clear out the drain line.
I took the back of the freezer off, used a hair dryer, and a few uses of hot water. A coat hanger test probe only goes down about a half inch. Is that still ice at that level? How far down do these things usually freeze?
yes it sounds like it's still ice. It usually goes down about 1-2 inches into the drain hole
