Hello,

Is the condenser fan running? And the compressor, is it running too? Vibrating? Hot to touch?

Customer replied 1017 days and 7 hours ago.

Everything's running, the frig is cold as is the freezer - yes vibrating - was vibrating before I cleaned which is why I cleaned - not hot

Oh.

So it is just the alarm that is annoying you is that correct?

Customer replied 1017 days and 7 hours ago.

I didn't even know it had an alarm - bought at yard sale a few years ago and has worked great the whole time so yes. What does it mean? Must I call a repairman? Is it because I had it turned off?

How long did you had it off?

Usually, the alarm is triggered when ever the temperature is still not within the working temperature of the unit. It would really happen during the first few hours after plugging it. After a while, when the freezer reaches the set tempearature, the alarm would go away.

Customer replied 1017 days and 7 hours ago.

I did this yesterday. It's been beeping/chirping since then. It was off for less than an hour and I didn't open while off. Ice is frozen, milk is cold. Thanks - I'll just ignore it and hope it goes off eventually.

Ok.

If it will not go away, post back and we can continue trouble shooting your unit.

If it would help, kindly set the fridge thermostat in the middle setting and the freezer thermostat to its minimum setting(1) to reach the set temperature faster.

This would make the unit reach its working temperature.

Another thing to look at is the door. if it is closing tight.

It could also be a door alarm As you close each door, make sure you can see the light bulb turn off.

If it does not, then you could have a faulty door switch.

Customer replied 1017 days and 7 hours ago.

Well, it's cold. The fan's off - it's not running now, it's all cold, the lights go off and it's not one continual sound like other alarms I've heard - it's a couple of beeps, very faint, then a chirp, again faint, then nothing then it starts over - almost rhythmic. I turned it all down but I'm pretty sure it's at the temp because the fan stopped.

Ok.

As it further cool down, probably the alarm or the beeping would go away by then.

Just observe the unit for 24 hours.

It did not stop. It's been over 48 hours now. Is there a battery - like in a smoke alarm - that needs changing? That's what it sounds like. I'm probably not qualified to do that -- it appears I'll need to call a repairman. Sigh.

I would not think of a battery would be utelized since it has power from AC and they could easily put a small step down transformer to make a power supply.

Anyway, It would be best to call a repairman and we would know what he would say about this problem.
