Kelvinator refrigerator - about 9 years old - MRT15CSEWD - Serial LA 02301162 My freezer has not been working properly for the past several months. It does not freeze enough to freeze ice cream or leftovers but does freezer ice. It is a no-frost freezer but it begins to build frost the minute I finish cleaning it of ice. There is a loud sound I can hear when I stand in front of the freezer that sounds like it is coming from the back of the freezer compartment and the sound never stops - sounds like a circular saw but more low pitched. Also the refrigerator is not keeping things cold enough, getting moldy cheese, meat. Milk is okay. Did the dollar bill test and unsure how easy it should be to get bill out, so unsure how to judge. What might be the problem?
Hi thanks for the question,
When you open the freezer door can you hear a fan motor going.
And can you feel frost on the freezer wall.
Thanks for your help :)
I can hear some sort of motor going in the freezer but don't know if that is the fan - very loud and never cycles off. Yes, I have to keep clearing frost and ice from the vents at the back of the freezer in order to have any sort of cold temperature, seems like defrost feature is not working at all.

A bad fan motor can cause this problem.take the panel off and check the fan motor
Is this a panel I should take off on the inside of the freezer? and what am I checking for with the motor?
Yes the panel in the freezer has to be removed, you said it was noisey it could be the motor thats noisey. checkit if its noisey replace the motor
Are you saying the motor could be causing the temperature problems or the noise or both? I might have to have a repair person out, the screws I see on the back of the freezer would require some sort of socket wrench to get off.
Yes the motor could cause both problems..
The screw size is 1/4 or 5/16 size
