I have a zonelline wall unit 2100-10 series. Recently I found leaking water at the front portion whenever the unit goes on. I took the unit out and found water to the brim in the front pan as well as the back. There are no port holes so it is a recylcing unit I guess. I did discover that the evaporator coil was quite clogged and a lot of built up slime, mud, gunkthe evaporator facing outside. Would that cause water to build up at the front pan? and spill out onto the floor? As I was cleaning and reassambling the unit I jossled the copper coil loop with a sharp tool and freon burst out. What a bummer !!!!!!! I could not believe it. Can one resolder the copper? and recharge it? Do I need to get a new evaporator? tHANKS lenny strimaitis
Hello Lenny, I will try to address all three of your questions. The evaporator is the inside cooling coil and dirt build up on it should only cut down on airflow into the room but gunk between the front and back down near the base can keep water from getting to the condenser where the slinger ring on the fan blade picks up the water and evaporates it. The condenser fins, (outside) need to be cleaned too. A good cleaning of the base and both coils should take care of the water leaking problems. As to repairing the copper, yes it can be brazed shut to repair the leak and then the system recharged. Dave
