Customer Question

We have a GE Profile 22 c.f. fridge with bottom freezer (about 2 1/2 years old). Right now, the fridge runs constantly but has very inconsistent temperatures - they run either too high for both fridge and freezer but eventually, after a few hours, get back to "normal" but the fridge almost never turns off, only to start again with the up and down temps. The fridge is often in the 40s and the freezer in the teens but the temps are factory set at 37 and 0.    The wall behind the fridge is quite hot as is the back of the fridge and from what we can see, the compressor fan is working (at least we think that's what the fan is next to the compressor on the bottom of the fridge in the back). We have checked the fridge and freezer controls with a separate thermometer and they match up with the ones in the applicance.   What else could it be besides the compressor fan?

Hello.

It sounds like you are having an issue with your control board. It is in a metal cover above the compressor area. This board fails in many different ways including this one. The only other problem it could be is compressor related but we won't think about that right now. That is bad news and I think you are in better shape than that.

If you get me the model number I will get you the part number and pricing.
