Need to replace cam on freezer door of GE model tfx22rhb. Have part. Is this something I can do myself? Are there any special instructions?
Hi Thanks for the question.
Do you mean the cam on the lower hinge ?
Yes. I have purchased the part. it is GE Genuine Renewal Part WR2X4901 and is called a cam riser.
More info. I think I can replace it myself but I hesitate fearing that I'll get the door off and not be able to get it back on correctly and/or mess something else up in the hinges and have to throw out food while waiting for a pro to arrive.

Heres a few different ways you can do it.I use a can under the door to help prop it up, this way you dont have to remove the food from inside the door.Read the do it yourself part.
This is the first I've heard about having to drill out a rivet. It isn't indicated on the schematic that was with my owner's manual. Do you know what size screw/nut combo I'll need to install the new cam? If I have that info I will accept.
Thanks
The new part you received should be a complete part with no rivet to take off.
The rivet is in the part of the original cam still in place on the hinge.

This is the part you should have ordered , it comes complete with no rivets
