unpluged my washer when i left town. came back pluged it in it worked all the way up to the spin cycle, reset spin it worked. loaded secound load an nothing happend.
What is the brand and model number please? The washer will not fill or run at all now? Dave
it is a roper by whirlpool, the washer filled on the second load but did not do any thing after that.
Ok, I will be able to help you but may need the model number later. If it filled and is not making any noise we need to now there is power at the outlet. Can you plug something else in to see if it works?
yes the outlet works
Ok, the washer should be agitating. There should be power to the motor and it should be humming. Are you hearing any noise? If you move the timer to spin does it run and drain? I will need the model number so I can look at the wiring diagram. The number should be under the hinge of the lid.
There is sound or movement on any setting. the modle # XXXXX XXXXX
Ok, I looked at the wiring diagram and if it won't run at any place on the timer it may be a loose connection at the motor or the motor itself. Could also be the timer but you will need a tester to continue. If you can get the washer tipped back you can check the motor wiring connector to make sure it is plugged in tight. Let me know and we will go to the next step.
i tiped the washer back (had to drian it and take the clothes out) the connector was in tight. i do have a tester.
Ok, I think I see the problem. There is a gray and white wire going to the lid switch and the switch must be open. There should be a plunger that comes down from the lid and goes into a hole on the right side of the top. Is the plunger there? If you push down in the hole with a pencil does the switch click? To get to the wires you need to remove the 2 philips screws from the bottom ends of the top console end caps and pull it front and lift up. You will see the white gray and green wires going down into the top.
There is no plunger that goes into a hole from the lid. Behide the top console there is a littel white box that i'm sure is the "switch". that has a grey white and green wire pluged into it with a ground coming out .
Yes your washer has a different style switch than I described bt that is it and it is your problem. Unplug the washer and if you disconnect the connector going to theswitch you can test it by putting a jumper from the gray to white wires on the harness. If the switch is bad this will bypass it and allow the motor to run.
The canon plug and the switch is burnt in the middle (white wire). wheres the best place to get replacments and how do i remove the switch?
I'm not sure what you mean by the canon plug but the switch part number is(NNN) NNN-NNNN There are many places online or local to get it. Even eBay or Sears. Here is the Sears link http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action?pop=flush
thanks for the links. How do i remove the switch?
The standard switch is mounted under the top so if this is the same you pull the cabinet front by putting a flat screwdriver in the front of the clip on either side under the rear console and lever the screwdriver back. The clips will pop out and the entire cabinet tips front. Hope this helps. Dave
