I'm trying to open the front of my whirlpool electric dryer model DLB2650BELWH so I can finish replacing the exhaust vent duct because I don't have enough room after opening the back panel or can I just attach it at both ends with duct tape to make it secure?
Use aluminum foil tape to attach them together.
this doesn't tell me how to open the front of the dryer. I have a new vent duct to install but I can't maneuver around enough by just having opened the back of the dryer. I also don't have any aluminum foil tape, just duct tape.
Where is the lint filter located?
the little one I clean every time I use the dryer is just inside the front door.
That model# XXXXX up as a ge dryer not whirlpool.
I'll go look directly at the dryer instead of my dryer book for thisinfo. hold ona minute please
Ok
it's always been confusing to me it says whirlpool and it refers to GE on the dryer and book too. it is model #DLB2650BELWH, serial #ZZ260648H although I'm bad about sending back registration info. it is a great dryer I bought probably in 1989 or so.
Ok open the door of the unit.Under the front top lip are there screw?
when i open the dryer door there are screws around the drum and two screws on bottom right of door on the frame - not on the door. under the door and white foot high kickplate(?) there is a two inch high black plate that has three screws across it and a big black type screw above the black plate on each end above the black plate
Pop that kick plat off it is held on with clips.Use a flat head screwdriver.
by kick plate do you mean the black plate? and do you mean i "kick it off" by undoing the two big screws above it?
No i mean pop it off with a screw driver.
I unscrwed the black plate and it doesn't let me see anythig. i unscrwed the bottom of the whte front and it looks like i'll have to undo the whole frong panel with the front door kept on it, whichis oke but the top two bigger screws on the top right are smooth so I can't use either a flatehead or philips. what do i use for them?
The top should be held down with clips if you put a putty knife inbetwee the top and front.About 4 inches in from the corners and push in and lift the top.
no the top and the front section are held together by 4 screws on a lip underneath the top if i can get these unscrwed wtiha phhilips - i've done two so far and this opens it, i'll up my price i pay you, so please hold on a minute! ths is my first repair attempt! but I'll use you again for the futrue if this works!
Yes remove the screws lift the lid.
dog gone it. i've lifted the lid and the big drum is inthe way. how in the world do i get to see the bottom front where the attachment for the duct goes? Or is is safe to just use duct tape there to kind of keep it held there? I'm too far from a store to get ths aluminium tape, but I guess I'll gete it if its the only choice
Can you attach it with the tape from where you are.
I can get the duct half on b/c I can reach around the other side that is at the front panel so hopefully i can somehow get some kind of tape around. what do you think?
On the iside corners of the front at the top are a couple screws remove them.Lift the front a bit and twist it to the left. Then at the bottom should be a access so you can get at it.
well what about the drum it is actually attached to the front panel it looks like! and the heck of it is - is that I can easily see from the back an oval access hole at the bottom of the front panel (behind the front outside panel I guess - but we just can't seem to get to it!
The drum is not attached to the front it will come away and leave the drum where it is.
let me look at it again. i do see a black screw 3/4s up at the top on the front panel so i'll undo it and the one on the other side. hold on please. this is quite a learning experience
They are on the inside corners.
I don't see those, but I see a lot of electrical wires attached, but I'll carefully undo these two black scrws andsee if the drum doesn't get in the way. hold on please. i don't want to get electrocuted!
Unplug the unit.
the unit and the breaker are off. the screw on the right did what you said, so now I'll undo the left.and just two last questions - when i undo the left should i also undo the screw securing the wires or just let them stretch when I open it?they have a little leather hold with a screw right at the closing between the front panels where they open. And also, do you still stay get the aluminium tape meaning that the duct is nto safe?
The wires should be fine and yes i recomend you use foil tape you can get it at homedepot.
thank you. i think i'm in business I can see the little access panel and i have to vacuum everything anyway b/c it is all covered with dust! do you assist with upright eureka vacuums? i look at that this weekend probably.
No i'm sorry i don't do vaccums.
ok, can I print this chat? and how do i get back to the payment to pay you the next tier at $24? I appreciate your help. I may be needing help wth my washer soon too. what other appliances do you service?
You should be able to print this. The pay tiers should be there on your side.I repair all major hosehold appliances.
ok, i'm printing it now. and i see up top where it says add funds just to the left of my $14 accept so I'll add funds to pay the next tier of $24. i thank you very much for your patience and help. I'llkeep your name for future assistance now that I'm on my own and having to now learn how to repair everything in my house and on a reduced income. Thank you. Goodbye.
do you have to anaswer back before I hit accept? I added an extra $10 to my funds, but I don't know if I ahve to do anything else to make sure you get the whole $24 instead of the $14 when I hit the accept button
