We've had our Sharp Carousel microwave for about a year. This morning the carousel stoped turning. I also noticed that it seems, by the way it sounds, and the fact the food doesn't get hot, that the fan does turn on, but I don't hear that extra hum of the microwave turning on. I tryed turning off the breaker for about a minute, hoping that something would reset when I powered it back up ...but no luck. My next step was going to remove the unit from its enclosure, and check for a blown fuse. Any sugggestions from the experts?? Dave Hershey, PA
well that's exactly what you are going to have to do is remove the unit and take the outter shell of to look inside. But to narrow the process down, be assured it's NOT going to be a fuse. All the fuses on this machine will cut out the entire display and power to the unit. You have 1 of 2 problems. Either one of your 3 door switches is not activating correctly so it's stopping power from getting to a couple of the heating components---or you have a bad control board. Those are the only 2 options.
3 switches? There are 2 latches on the door. I see one switch that the lower latch hits when the door closes. It doesn't look like there is a switch for the top one. Where are the other 2.
Also, this is a "Smart and Easy Convection" microwave. The heat does not turn on for the convection either. Light, fan, clock, and control pad functions. Just no heat from convection or microwave.
all 3 switches should be mounted to that plastic bracket where the door shuts and the hooks on the door push the bracket into touching the switches correctly.
Of the 3 holes in the plastic bracket, only the bottom hole has a small orange switch. The middle and top holes are not occupied.
hmm then I appologize your model must only have 1 switch to it. Most sharps have 3.If the switch checks good (which I'm assuming it does because it lets the machine start up) then you will just need a new control board.
Is the control board easily identified when I open the unit up ( Is ther more than one circuit board?). Also, where is the best place to find a control board?
the control board is very easy to identify, it's the clock board --- the clock itself is the control board for the unit. And some of the only places I know to find sharp parts are Appliance Parts Depot (APDepot.com) Or Repairclinic.com.
