Customer Question

Kenmore Elite (made by LG) french door bottom freezer Model# XXXXX Water leak shows up in bottom of freezer. Over a week or so it fills the freezer bottom then leaks to floor. Sporadic leak doesn't seem to correlate to ice maker on/off or thru door water dispenser usage. I read somewhere on line that this some LG models might have a problem with the water line freezing. Anyone know about this problem?

The defrost drain is frozen over....Remove the back panel and you will see a small drain hole ...it might be hard to see at first (frozen over)...Unplug fridge take a hair dryer to the drain...What happens is the water has no where to go when the unit does a defrost...Then the backs up into freezer...

Did you receive r paymet? What is the permanent fix for this? Is there a factory fix kit or a DYI available?

Yes We did recieve payment...They do not make a kit for this fo LG...Just make sure the metal heat guard has not covered the hole...And see that the drain hose has no dust build up at the end of it...This will cause water to sit in the line and freeze..Most of the time once you defrost the drain it will be ok..
