I have a GE Quiet Power 3 Model GLD5960N00SS and when I turn

Resolved Question:

I have a GE Quiet Power 3 Model GLD5960N00SS and when I turn it on it sounds like the motor is running but no water is filling into the unit. Would the pump be out or could there be a blockage?

So it is not filling with water?
Customer: replied 8 years ago.
Correct, no water at all is filling the unit. It worked fine over the weekend but now when you turn it on it sounds like the motor is running but no water is going in. I tried all the cycles and the same result...just noise.

Do you have a voltage tester?
Customer: replied 8 years ago.
No I sure dont.
Expert:  Tom Johnston replied 8 years ago.

Open the door of the unit on the front left is a float make sure the float is down all the way.

Customer: replied 8 years ago.
Yes the float appears to be all the way down.

We need to find out if the water valve is getting power.Becuase if it is the valve is bad if its not it could be a bad float switch.

Customer: replied 8 years ago.

So do I need to get a voltage tester to test the water valve? Is this a common problem?

Expert:  Tom Johnston replied 8 years ago.

It is pretty common and having a tester will help with all your appliance repairs if you use this site.

Customer: replied 8 years ago.
I will buy 1 in the morning and test it. If it's not that then what should I check?
Expert:  Tom Johnston replied 8 years ago.

The water level switch it is next to the valve check to see if it is getting power.
