Customer Question

I have a gas range, model JGSP20GER1, whose only problem is the oven does not light. The glo-bar checks out OK, 1400 ohms. A repairman could not fix it, and suggested it needed a new 'computer." My questions are: could it be the control valve? and is this a replaceble part?

You need to check the amps of the ignitor not the ohms. When the oven is turned on the ignitor should draw 3.2 amps. The safty vavle wont open until the ignitor draws 3.2 amps. My guess is the ignitor is bad. It is most common. You are getting 120 volts to the ignitor if it is glowing but if the ignitor is weak it wont open the gas valve.

The second half of my question was: can the control valve be replaced (or does the whole ERC board need to be replaced).
