i have a ge model gss221bma cc refridgerator.for the few months

Resolved Question:

i have a ge model gss221bma cc refridgerator.for the few months it started getting warmer.i finally decided to take a look at it.first i cleaned motor and coils on rear right corner at bottom .they were very dirty.hoping to be so lucky i stoped there.two days later the ice cubes melted in freezer.i then took the panel off inside reae of frezer. the coil behind this panel was frozen way air was going to cuirculate through there.i defrosted this area and reassembled.freezer and fridge seemed cubes froze again but ice cream got very i turned freezer back and no matter what i did it would not freeze the mean time on fridge side temp was very cool but not cold.eggs however froze in crisper drawer where they have always been kept.on top shelf where water is kept and sometimes froze it was just cool but not cold.also noticed that it runs now with door open and stops when you close used to be other way around.i like fridge and do not want to replace.

you most likely have a bad defrost heater in this, let me look that part up for you ,thanks Bryan

after looking over your problem I think it may be the control board instead of the heater because of what you are saying about the refrigerator stopping when you close the door. G.E. has had to re disign the boards in these refrigerators because they were failing, heres a good place to order the board, this will bring you right to the part, thanks Bryan
