My Avanti undercounter dual zone wine cooler is making a racket

This answer was rated:

My Avanti undercounter dual zone wine cooler is making a racket like an idling diesel engine. It cools fine, but really interrupts the ambiance around our bar so we have to turn it off. Any thoughts?
where is the noise inside the unit or on the out side? and is it consistent?
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
Well, when you initially turn it on, the unit sounds fine. Then it appears when the compressor (?) turns on, and it sounds like a wine and then turns into a diesel engine. At that point it varies in intensity, and at times can be heard throughout the house.
it sounds like your compressor is making the sound. you will have to replace the compressor or get a new unit

As I thought...is changing the compressor a relatively simple job with the right parts for a handyman?

nope you need to be certified and takes about 1000$ just in tools.
