Customer Question

Okay, here goes, please be patient with me as I've gotten the run around everywhere else I've been. I have a 1996 model no. MAH4000AWW Maytag Neptune washer. So far in the last few months I have replaced the wax motor, the circuit board, and belt. The motor was replaced in 2006. Repair clinic online said all those were the parts needing replacing because my washer would agitate but not spin. Since those things have been replaced the only thing that has changed is that now the washer agitates in the spin cycle. If I could buy a new one I would but I need to repair it myself. Can you tell me anything more I can do PLEASE!

is this draining completely? if it has water left in it this wont spin. also is the door lock light on? let me know Bryan
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
Yes it is draining completely and yes the door lock is on
Expert:  Bryan replied 5 years ago.

I would take the hose off the pump ( get some towels ) and see if its clogged or not draining completely. you cant see the water below the inner tub.there also could be an issue with the water level control. this senses when machine is empty and lets it go to spin. you seem to have replaced all the obvious things.

is the water level control replacable?
Expert:  Bryan replied 5 years ago.
. with all the things you replaced in this there isnt much else. have you check the switches in the door lock assembly? Part 824665there are two switches in this one is the spin switch (Switch, door lock/spin enable) Part 454909also this is your presure switch ( water level) Part(NNN) NNN-NNNN width= Part(NNN) NNN-NNNN width=check these. let me know tomorrow > i get up at 5am est. thanks Bryan

Bryan,

My husband checked the pump and said it was not clogged or anything. As far as the door lock assembly goes we have replaced the wax motor but you mentioned the spin switch, there are two switches that look exactly alike, one to the right and above the wax motor and the other is in the other side. also where is the water level switch located ?

I know I have a lot of questions but I've been told so many things from other less helpful online tecnicians that this or that was the problem. We can't afford a repairman to come out(like a lot of people right now). I would be willing to pay you a little more than $15. if you can get us to the right place. No one yet has mentioned these things.

ok when the wax motor is locked both the switches have continuity. you can check this with the volt meter. just push the switch buttons up and check for continuity. as far as the water presure switch it is in the control panel . this is all the diagrams on your machine. click here http://www.pcappliancerepair.com/model-display.php click on control panel diagram and its part # XXXXX on this. maybe these diagrams will help you find the different parts in this. let me know , thanks Bryan

okay, we will check these tonight and I'll let you know tomorrow. You have been great and you will deserve a bonus.

We still are fighting with this machine. It had a defective wax motor and we replaced it(for the third time in three months). It finally spun for the first time in three months but then when I tried it with a load in it, it wouldn't spin again. We are so frustrated and no one has the answers. As for paying you I don't under stand because on Feb. 20th it came out of my account when I clicked green accept. Purchase number: 90630219005437844262401. Then on Feb 24th another $15.00 came out for Ron. What's up with that?

This is a clutch problem you can download this Technical bulletin explaining that DC error is a clutch replacement being necessary for the repair...
