my maytag washer just shows a f28 code and my clothes are locked inside. ive unplugged it and restarted but it still goes to the f28 code....thanks, matt

Motor Control Unit (8540135) Microcomputer Machine Control Unit (8540788)It would be a good idea to order both, as both components have been problematic for error code F28 If you find either the MCU or the CCU(Microcomputer Machine Control Unit) fixed it.Here's the online repair manual for yourWhirlpool Duet Sport, but its identical to your HE2.Give it time to download. Hello Welcome to Just Answer. The Error codes F-19 thru F-31 are electrical errors. Unfortunetly you will need a hands on tech onlaction to diagnose which part. Check all the ground wires are not loose.I'm at work now. hmmm i bought it in july from home depot...front loader model says epic z on the front and it is a HE model
Sorry, but I'm going to step in here. F28 is a serial communication error betwen the motor control and the machine control board. A Maytag Epic Z is the same as a whirlpool duet sport--- they just call them different names but Whirlpool now owns Maytag so many times technicians will refer to products as Whirlpool when they have a different name on them.The Check all connections between the boards--- if everything looks good 95% of the time the board that is bad is the machine control board NOT the motor control board. Replace and access this part by taking the top panel off--- it is held in by a few screws coming in from the back holding on the top of the unit.
