Why does my microwave arc inside It seems there are sparks

Customer Question

Why does my microwave arc inside? It seems there are sparks or bursts of lightning coming from that silver panel on the inside wall. It is a GE model JES1339WC 001.

Is there a scratch in the coating if there is even a slight blemish it will cause it to arc.If the coating is scratched or chipped you need to replace the unit.It is a factory coating that can not be duplicated.

If this has been helpfull please press accept thank you.

I don't see any scratches on the silver plate. Just some slight crumbs etc. along the edge. No damage to the plate.

Check the walls on the inside.

Everything seems to be clean and intact - no scratches or nicks anywhere in the interior. Doesn't do it all the time - seems to be just on high power, cooking things like popcorn. Hmmmm.

Silly question but you are using microwave dishs?
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
Yep, only microwave safe dishes or plasticware. I'll give the whole thing a good wipe down and see what happens. Thanks!
