the mag tub is shorted probably. when it kicks on it steals the power from everything else killing the unit.

magnetron is what heats the microwave. These magnetrons run approx 150-200 dollars just for the part and are usually not worth replacing unless your microwave is very high end or the part is under warranty it's probably best to replace the machine. Check your manual though -- sometimes they put extended warranties on the magnetrons since they are so expensive
