Customer Question

My Neptune washer has been making a knocking noise, then got very loud during the spin cycle. My wife said that the washer just quit, won't do anything. Is there a transmission or drive system? I think it is shot. How much to repair? Washer is 7 years old.

SO far my early opinion is trash it and buy a Speed Queen like in the laundry mat's.
That's what I have now. They tested them at 8 loads a week for 25 years.
todays washers are good for 12 -14 years tops.
Okay enough talk, i have to get to work and and get your info to why its knocking !
be back soon!

Suspension Springs or struts depending on the washer
If one or more of the suspension springs (or struts depending on the washer) are weak or broken, o, the tub will move excessively and the machine will be off balance and shake ,
and perhaps bang or knock.

Suspension pads
Check to make sure the suspension pads or suspension arms are properly in place. Replace as necessary. Or they may be bent.
If so the washer will automatically shut off for safety reason rather than stay out of balance ,
and destroy the drum.
