all four surface units on my Jenn-Air range top aren't working. The breaker is o.k. and there is voltage at each of the elements. The two large elements are 22 ohms and the two smaller ones test at 40 ohms. What is going on?
Hi, What voltage is present at the elements when set to high.Thank you
I didn't check the voltage. Should I do so now?
Wayne
Yes check it at the element only for now.
230 volts.
This is at the elements? from one side to the other?
Yes...
Let me make sure I understand this, at the element, there are two wires right? And you are getting 230v, but they wont heat.am I correct?
that is correct...
That is strange for sure,Try unplugging the range and re plugging it back in, its possible the contact there is not very good.So you could be getting voltage with out a good amt of amperage,Also check the terminal block on the back of the range where the power cord connects to the wiring block on the back of the range, look for loose or burnt connections.keep me posted.
there is not a plug like a free standing range. The surface units are not part of the oven. It is wired directly, so I'll have to see if I can get to the terminals and check them. Thanks. I'll let you know but it will take me some time.
OK no rush,it sounds like a ground problem, I am thinking somewhere you will find a bad connection.
