Customer Question

When I put my washing machine selector on rinse, the water will pour in but it won't agitate. When I put it on spin it does nothing...however, it makes a buzzing noise in both selections.

When I put my washing machine selector on any of the selections, it will not agitate or spin. I tried to move/spin the agitator, it would not move. However, I could move the tub around. I can hear a buzzing noise when the selector is on rinse or spin...or even when the agitator is supposed to move in the wash cycle. I know that it is working because it pumps water into the machine. This machine is a whirlpool, top=loading machine...all knobs no digital.39755.0462004282

Hi, again,
It sounds like your belt is bad. you can check this by tipping the machine back, and looking at the belt.
also try to turn the pully attached to the drum, let me know what you find.Smile
It could also be the motor, make sure the motor pulley turns.

Hi, again,
you must remove the bottom panel first in order to see the motor and pulleys..

Customer replied 1650 days and 16 hours ago.

I cannot move the pully. the belt is not tight and seems kinda loose. It seems like the belt is only around the center "pully". I am not sure if it has slipped off of another pully.

the belt must run over the motor pulley and the main drum pulley.
Deas the motor pulley turn by hand?
thanks

Customer replied 1650 days and 16 hours ago.

I think the belt has slipped off of the motor pully. Is this possible? even without the belt breaking? I cannot locate the motor pully. I am sorry if your working with an amateur (me) here. I am having to hold this machine up while I am looking at it and trying to locate these items you listed. Sorry if I am not helping you much.

Yes that is what likely happened here.
you just need to replace the belt is what this sounds like.Smile
just examine it closely and you should be able to see where it goes.
If you need me Im here.
