you probably have a broXXXXX XXXXXd switch. if you look on the lid you will see a peg , this peg goes through a hole in top of machine and hits a lid switch , these switches break all the time and hang down so peg doesnt hit it, the switches are made of plastic and break easy. take a pencil and try pushing down on switch and see if it starts, let me know Bryan

does the water drain? if it does you need a coupling.thats the piece that takes place of the belt in these machines, can you get me model # XXXXX I'll get diagrams for you. its probably not agitating either, probably sounds like it is but isn't. let me know and I'll send you diagrams. thanks Bryan
