refrigerator- model# XXXXX frequent clicking noise .lost cooling in both refrigerator and freezer. what is probable cause and what part replacement would you recommend.

Where is the clicking noise coming from? Sounds like the compressor is not running. Check behind the unit under the shroud to see if the compressor is getting power. If it is getting power but not running you will need to check the resistance on the compressor's windings. When you shake the start relay (little box that plugs onto the compressor) does it rattle? If so, pry it open and tell us what you find. If you see what looks like a nickel that shattered into pieces you will need to replace the start relay. Hopefully that will be the problem as it is the cheapest kind of fix for something like this.
