I have a Whirlpool Duet HT Washing Machine. Yesterday I loaded it with laundry, shut the door, filled the dispensers, pressed the Control On button and then pressed the Start Button. Nothing happened. The door did not make the click sound like normal and nothing happens. The machine is receiving power as the displays are illuminated, the water supply is on and the strainer is free of debris. Is there anything I can do to fix it?
Hi, thanks for using JustAnswer.com. From your description, it sounds like your problem is in the door lock circuit. First, unplug the machine to reset the board. Leave it unplugged for about 5 minutes then try another cycle and see what happens. I will be here...

I just completed the instructions. The display is illuminated again but nothing is engaging.
Okay, if you open the door, in the upper RH corner of the door opening, do you see a small black plunger? It is about 6" above and slightly to the left of the square opening for the door catch. Also, may I please have the model number of your washer?
I see the plunger. The Model# XXXXX
Okay, the problem is likely your door lock assembly or the main control board. We need to determine which. Complete the following and let me know what happens.
DIAGNOSTIC TEST The
washer must be empty and the control must be in the OFF
state before pressing the touch-pad sequence to start the test.
Starting the Test Mode
¦ Close the door.
¦ Push CONTROL/ON (if present on this model).
¦ Select the DRAIN/SPIN cycle.
¦ Select NO SPIN by pressing the SPIN SPEED touch-pad.
¦ Push PREWASH OPTION four times within five seconds. If
PREWASH OPTION is not present on this model, press
RINSE HOLD four times within five seconds. C:00 will light up
on the display. Let it go clear through until it stops on its own. Take note of any fault codes on the screen.
The pre-wash option was avaiable. The display reads 0:02
Just let it go through until the end....about 5-10 minutes. Let me know if it spins and "agitates" too, please.Town & Country Appliance Service39670.8867679398
Actually nothing is happening when the Start button is hit
Is anything on the display?
I believe your door lock assembly is at fault. If it were the control, it would have not gone into diagnostics. The part # XXXXX the lock assy is(NNN) NNN-NNNNand sells for about $55.00. It is accessed by removing the spring around the front of the gray rubber door boot. The spring is at the bottom and should be where you grab to pull the cable off. The door lock is right inside to the right and is easily replaced. Then reinstall the door boot...not too much to it. An extra hand when installing the boot is helpful, though.
First I tried to hit the Start Button right after the Diagnostic Test. At the time "0:02" was displayed. Pressing the Start Button just made the display flash the "0:02" I pressed the Pause/Cancel button and selected another wash cycle and pressed Start nothing happened.
Thanks
Definitely door lock...should have no problem replacing it.
