I have a Maytag MBB2256GEW frig with freezer on ...

I have a Maytag MBB2256GEW frig with freezer on bottom. There is a steady ice buildup on the floor of the freezer compartment and whenit builds to a certain height, on a defrost cycle water pudles under the frig. I scrape the ice buildup(about 1/4 inch of ice off the bottom) and its OK again for 3-4 days. Any ideas.

This information would lead to the defrost system having a failed component.

The defrost timer is the most common component with this type of failure.

It's part number 12 on the diagram below -

The part is available here and there is information on others who have done this as a DIY project.
