Sorry for the delay, Long over due long weekend get away.
OK , There is not much of a trick on removing the pump and mtr assm.
This is the sequence on removal. It is possible to remove the pump assm without removing the dishwasher but it takes as long as if you remove the dishwasher from the cabinet.
Here is a shop manual that goes into detail on repairing the unit.
Turn off the power and unhook the water line if it is not long enough to allow you to pull out. Once the unit is pulled out you may need to unhook the drain.
Remove the lower spray arm from inside the unit.
Remove the small pump out motor assm refer to the manual for removal. This is a twist lock. Remove the 3 white plastic retainers that hold the pump assm to the tub. The pump and motor assm just pops up into the dishwasher cavity.
The manual I sent you is a Kitchenaid manual, This is the same as yours just the cosmetics are different. Sears does not publish repair manuals.http://www.cagrimmett.com/justanswer/KD01.pdf
