Ihave a Frigidaire Washing machine , model GLTF 1670AS0, model "gallery", and when I pull the timer knob , it produces a continuous   loud sound like a buzzer , until I push it back and nothing else happens

i'm sorry thats a front loader the sound you hear is probably lock trying lock there may be a problem with latch asm. I'll get back to you in a minute, bryan

yes it is a front loader I was looking at the Frigidaire schgematics , but I can't figure out what part to pull out and repair/order

yes the door lock light is on as the sound continues , until I PUSH IT BACK

ok click on this link www.pcappliancerepair.com and put in you model # XXXXX go to diagram 05 on side bar and all your parts are there the door lock and switch asm is # XXXXX on diagram. and your latch is # XXXXX one of these is your problem . check latch on door first see if anythings broken on it. it has two post sticking out make sure one isn't broken off , this actually happened to me. hope this helps Bryan
