When you advance the timer around to other cycles, does it spin in any other cycle?
It is sounding like you need to check the lid switch. There should be a little tab that come off the underside of the lid. This tab will push a rod that pushes the lid switch. When all this is working correctly the machine thinks the lid is closed. It will spin and agitate.
If this is not working correctly,(i have seen that tab on the lid be loose and cause this problem) you will have a problem like what you are having now. More than likely you either have a bad lid switch or the tab on the lid is not pushing the rod in far enough.
Here is a diagram below of your lid switch. It is number 3.
This is the first thing I would be looking at. Also, everything could appear fine will tab on the lid, but the switch could just be bad.
Let me know if you have anymore questions about this. I will be more than happy to help you out.
Your welcome, Good Luck.
