Resolved Question:

We have a GE Compact Refrig with top Freezer. An employee got the bright idea to chip out the ice and punctured the white bed of the freezer, its now making a hissing sound and the freezer seems to be defrosting. Is this fixable or should we just buy new.

I hate to say it but I did the asame thing once. Just trying to be helpfull I got a knofe and was cleaning my Grandfathers freezer with it (I was actually trying to get to the icecream frozen at the bottom of the freezer) and punched a hole in the coolant tube.

This is the same thing your employee has done. (minus the ice cream part)

You would be better off buying a new one than repairing this one.

FYI, Steer clear of the GE units. They are hard to get manual for and the Whirlpool / Maytag line is a better product anyways. Also steer clear of the fancy digitals. Get the nothing fancey base model. There is much less that can go wrong.
