Customer Question

I was just informed by a repairman that my 4 year old Amana washing machine needs a new transmission and I should just buy a new machine. I was told this is a common problem on these machines. It''s broken two belts and now the tub isn''t turning even though the lower spindle is. Before I buy another machine is there another, cheaper explanation?

HiCustomer

If your repairman replaced the belt and shortly afterwards the belt broke again - He is correct to assume that the transmission is bad.

Did he tell you that he tested the transmission?

The new Amana machines are really Whirlpool machines (Amana now belongs to Whirlpool Corp.)

FYI,
Amana washers carry an 5 yr. warranty on transmission parts. I would get a second opinion. Call Amana customer service and ask for a warranty repair. Its worth the free call!(NNN) NNN-NNNNbr />Your local authorized servicer is A&E Factory Service.(NNN) NNN-NNNNbr />
