Customer Question

We purchased a Maytag Performa washing machine about 2 years ago. Recently it has started to make a strange grinding sound. While the washer is running if I reach in and pull on the inside drum the sound stops. Does the brake that holds the drum from turning during the wash cycle need to be tightened? How would this be done?

You are correct it is the brake slipping unfortunately this can not be adjusted, the brake and stator(drum) needs replaced and requires a special tool to do if You would like to purchase this tool and the parts I can link them to You and I can get started on the instructions for You.
