Customer Question

Sirs: I have a maytag dryer model MDE3500AYQ s/n36916578ZH. The timer dial does not move in any cycle. I just replaced the timer today and it still does not move. The only way I can stop the dryer is open the door or manually turn dial to the off position. Any ideas to help me? Don

Hi Grandp1957,

Thanks for choosing JustAnswer.

How long has the dryer run before you turned it off (approximately)?

Is the dryer very hot. I mean extremely hot!

I'm guessing that you were also very carefull when you put the wires back on to be sure that they were on the same connections... right?

Bernie. The dryer does not get extremely hot. I shut the dryer off in around one hour. the clothes are done by then. YES, very careful. I took one off and put on the same tab on new timer until all completed. Don

Hi Don,

Try checking the operating thermostat. If this shorts the timer doesn't get the voltage to continue. However, this often leads to very hot dryer and/or another a thermal fuse being blown.
