Refrigerator not running...

Customer Question

Noticed water on the floor near refrigerators Freezer side. Opened and found that the refrigerator is not running. Coils are kept clean and condensor motor is HOT. Had no indication that there was anything wrong. No Noise, no anything. I took an ohm meter and checked all the power connectons and getting good solid readings on the AC. What else could it be? This appliance is 10 years old, side by side freezer and is a Amana Model # XXXXX

if condenser motor is hot it means its been trying to run. if condenser motor does not run the compressor will overheat and also not run until it cools down. try putting a fan an the floor back there and blow it on the compressor as soon as it starts running the condenser fan motor should too, if not replace the fan motor good luck

Fan motor runs just fine, have also checked defrost timer in front of unit ( located at bottom of door ) it is a 8 hour timer, turned it on and off, fan goes on and off with timer....

if fan is runninjg compressor should be running also. is it? if fan and compressor are running condenser coil will start getting warm which means its refrigerating and should start working. realize this is a slow process to get back to the righttemperature especially if all the food got warm. perhaps your fridge went into defrost and stayed there. turn defrost timer until it clicks ( fan stops running) after about 30 min.s it should advance and turn compressor and fan back on.
