Resolved Question:

Hello, Defrost thermostat was just hanging down in the evaporator area. Has a clip that looks like it should be snapped onto a refrigerant line. If so, does it make any difference which one?

No not really. As long as it is located so that it receives a good reading from the overall condensor it should be fine. This reading can be taken from where both the lines enter the unit, or if they run the legnth of the condensors fins it is best placed in the center of the lines.
