I am interested in information about a antique 5 gal,

Customer Question

I am interested in information about a antique 5 gal, galvanized, plastic lined "FROSTY" water cooler. There is only one picture on the internet of it but it has no information.
JA: Don't you just love the idea of finding something valuable in your attic? I do, but I think all I have up there is junk my brothers abandoned before they left home. Always a good idea to check things with the antiques appraiser, though. Tell us what else you do know and the antiques appraiser will be able to better assist you.
Customer: the water cooler states "PAT APPL'D FOR"
JA: Is there anything else the antiques appraiser should be aware of?
Customer: no. stated everything that is written on water cooler.

okay. it may have been manufactured by whirlpool although I am uncertain a manual for water coolers came up when I did a search.
Expert:  Nora replied 1 month ago.

Hi,

May I know what specific information it is you are seeking on this cooler?

~Nora

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Any info about its history. There is only one picture online. Is it rare? I want to sell it but would like to have some idea about it. Since they applied for a patent was it the first of its kind in some way? I have no idea what to begin to ask for but would like to be educated as much as possible about it.

Hi,

I will help the best I can here for you. To start, let's determine if this is galvanized steel or aluminum by trying to stick a magnet to the metal surface. Try that and let me know.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
The magnet stuck.
Expert:  Nora replied 1 month ago.

Hi,

Okay, that indicates that this is galvanized steel. Please allow me some time to look into this for you.
