Can you help us value this Soviet Union era bass (?)

Customer Question

Can you help us value this Soviet Union era bass wood (?) carving? My husband bought it in Pereslavl-Zalessky, near Moscow, while on a business trip to the Soviet Union in 1990, just before the end of the Soviet era. Times were tough for the local population and they were selling anything they could lay their hands on to the few tourists that passed their way. He was told by the seller that it is a carving of Alexander Nevsky, the Grand Prince of Vladimir, who at 19 yrs old led an army against marauding armies from the north. Today he is still revered as national folk hero. There is no signature that we could find. With the exception of the staff and banner, it is carved from a single piece of wood.

You have a Russian 'Black Forest' style hand carved figure on horseback of a Russian hero. On today's market, this can garner $175 - $325 depending on size.
