Hi, My name is ***** ***** it is my pleasure to assist you. I have worked on these clocks before with dates scribed or etched on the casing indicating that the previous person who worked or serviced the clock did this when the clock was last worked on sort of like notes similar to what watch makers do to the inside cases of pocket watches. The 82 wouldn't indicate the casing was made in 1882 because that was before Charles Jacques started making clocks so the 82 is 1982. I know that the back plate of the movement would have the registered stamped on it for the patent. There is no way to track the serial number down because the records were not saved at the time the company was bought out by different clock companies. I hope this helps you. Thanks Mike
