Hello and welcome! My name is Doris.
I have been an antiques collector, dealer and appraiser for over 56 years.
I will be pleased to help you.

I researched your question before I decided to answer.

I found where a set of 23K Tutankhamun Exhibition stamps sold at auction for $89.99 in 2008.

See image below.

Remember this is auction value. Retail would generally be at least $180. This may be less than your father paid; but now, that is what they are selling for.

If you hold onto the the set, it will become more scarce and worth more.

A private seller to a dealer or at auction can expect 30-60% of retail value.

I hope I have helped you.

I appreciate the dealers response, however, I believed I had cancelled the PayPal transaction when I realized that in stead of $18 dollar deposit, I was bein charged $38.00 and it appeared to be a monthly change. I sent a paypal dispute response 2 days ago, before I even received this dealers response! I do NOT want to have a monthly account, I feel this was a bait and switch scam that is just not right.
