I have a 1821 Great Briton Crown. Marked Britanniar: Rex

Customer Question

I have a 1821 Great Briton Crown. Marked Britanniar : Rex F:D: Georgius 1111 D:G; on the side of the head. I've looked at other 1821 Crowns. This one is different as it is stamped with the shamrock insignia on both sides. I'm wondering if this is rare & adds value.

Hi,

This called a counter stamp, these are collectible. Coins were counter stamped for advertising purposes, gifts, even stamped to be used as casino chips, also stamped by foreign governments. Your coin would sell for $80-100'at auction and retail for $150.

Thanks,

Wayne
