Hello and Welcome to Just Answer,

My name is***** am a Personal Property Appraiser and would be happy to assist you with your question. From the picture it looks like there may be some damage to the front leg. Can you tell me if there are any other damages to the desk? Thanks,Frank

I'm not sure. It's actually a friend's that I work with that I'm wanting to buy. It has square nails. Here's a picture of the inside. I can probably get her to send me more pictures.

Thanks very much for getting back to me with those additional photos and that information.

Your late 19th century writing desk would have been produced out of cherry by the Samuel M Wilkes Furniture company of Staunton, Va.

In excellent condition you would be looking at a resale value of between 250-300USD for the school desk in good overall condition. Tough to tell from the photos if that leg is heavily damaged or if it is just the grain of the wood. If it is heavily damages, this would detract from the resale value.

I hope this information was helpful to you today.

Best of luck with your antique desk.

Any feedback you can leave for my service would be much appreciated.

Thank You,

Frank

Looks like that leg did have some damage to it that was repaired.

In which case I would put a value closer to the 250-275USD range.

Still an excellent piece, but I just hope that the damage to the leg doesn't lead to any kind of structural issues.

Thank you again for any feedback you can leave for my service today.

Best,

Frank
