My mom gave me her china cabinet that my grandfather bought

Customer Question

My mom gave me her china cabinet that my grandfather bought for $600 from his employer in Houston who was a doctor when he we about 7 . He passed away in the early 80's he was 74/76. It's two pieces with colored lead flowers on two bottom doors and original bubble glass on top doors with same floral carving throughout all the wood. And has beveled mirror. But I found 3 notches under the top part in two places each notch the same size. Would u know any cabinet maker how marked their pieces with that. A friend said it seems like a Hepplewhite? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Esther earnest

Hi Esther,

Your piece is Art Nouveau manner from circa 1900. Hepplewhite pieces have clean straight lines with little ornate decoration.

Without a maker mark who made this cannot be definitively stated. The notches are not a maker mark.
