Hi, my name is***** a certified appraiser, and I'd be happy to help.
What led you to date this to 1778?
Could you please send a clearer close-up photo, including a clear close-up of the stitchwork?
Is the back visible, or is it covered by the framing?

Here is a pic of the back and a close up of the stitching

Thank you.
To me, this appears to be a much more recent piece, despite the date. However, I'm going to opt out and let other appraisers take a look at it. There is no extra cost for this and you don't have to do anything, it's going to become visible to everyone now.
