Customer Question

I have a sewing machine in an oak cabinet (I think) that is over 100 years old and still in working condition. The inside states "The Raymond M.F.G. of Guelph Limited m 139807"
I recall my mother telling me she remembers the The Raymond Sewing Machind was top notch and either Singer or a German Co. bought them. Was wondering what the value would be. It is in good condition

Hello and Welcome to Just Answer,
My name is***** am a Personal Property Appraiser and would be happy to assist you with your question.
Singer did in fact buy out Raymond Manufacturing in 1919, but they produced quite a bit of stock before hand.
From your information, this sounds like one of the models produced between 1890-1910.
In excellent working condition your antique sewing machine in the original oak cabinet would have a retail shop value of 275-250CAD.
If there are any damages, mechanical or cosmetic to the sewing machine or the cabinet, this would detract from the resale value .
I hope this information was helpful to you today.
Best of luck with your antique sewing machine.
Any feedback you can leave for my service would be much appreciated.
Thank You,
Frank
