What an adorable lidded trinket box or pin box. At one time it probably had a paper or foil label on the bottom telling who made it. It was most likely made in Japan for export.

Trinket boxes such as this, with no chips or cracks, sell in antique shops for around $20-$25 USD.

It was made in the 1950s-1960s.
