I have a capitimonte very large vase (2 feet) which is covered with raised figures angles/people (no clothes) and completely painted background. It also has possible gold paint around the top. It was a gift given to my mother about fifty years ago. I was just wandering if it could be worth something.
Hello, Thank you for using JustAnswer. I appreciate the opportunity to assist you with your question. Is it marked on the bottom Capo di Monte?Would you happen to have a photo of the mark that you can upload for me to see? That would be most helpful.Thank you very much and I will check back in a bit for your answer and then if you could allow me a little research time.Thank you , Michelle
Terrific, I can see the photo. Please allow me to do a little research on this particular mark and current sale prices and I will get back with you. I have lost my mind and am going to set up at an outdoor antique show at 6 a.m. tomorrow. The temp here is pushing 110 degrees. If I don't get back with you tonight. I will be back online tomorrow probably early afternoon. I don't think I will make it all day in this heat.Thank you, Michelle
That's fine. I am going to bed too and will be out most of the day. It is hot here too! Good luck.
I have searched and searched again to locate the exact company who made this piece but have come up with nothing. The original Capodimonte factory started in the mid to late 1700s in Naples Italy and the crowned N mark was never registered to the company. That particular factory was sold several times. The country of origin appears on wares from all countries after 1890.There are at least 3 companies registered in the U.S. that use the Capodimonte name and numerous factories in Italy. All of this aside, based on the size of your piece and the detail it has an antique shop price of $300-$500 USD as long as it is free of chips or cracks.Thank you so much for your patience and please feel free to ask me additional questions on your lovely piece. I am here to work with you until I have fully answered your question.Thank you, Michelle
