I have my father's ring which is roughly 58 years old. It is gold with a platinum bridge set with three small diamonds which he obtained in Africa while in the service. There are 10 rubies also from Africa surrounding the bridge, 5 on each side. The ring was custom made. Can you tell me without seeing the rings, a rough estimate of it's worth?

Hi,
The style of this ring is called Retro Modern, these were made in the late 1940's to the early 1950's. Most rings that were made in this style were 14k rose gold with synthetic rubies, believe it or not synthetic rubies were about the same cost as natural rubies back then. They used the synthetic rubies because they were easier to match. Assuming that your ring has natural rubies and is at least 14k gold I estimate it's value of $500-700 at auction, and $1000-1500 at an antique show or jeweler specializing in Estate Jewelry.
Please tell me if I can provide you with any more information. I don't know what detail you want. I have had a lot of these rings.
Here is a ring that is almost the exact same as you ring that sold for $600.00
