I have a book Essays of Elia by Charles Lamb. It was published by G.P. Putnam & Sons . It is stamped 250 copies printed. Mine is number 204. November 5, 1883. I came from an uncle who obtained it when he was living on the island of St. Helena.thank you,Bob Bruce

The value of antique books is especially tied to their condition. The book you mention in very good condition (all straight, clean, intact, not scuffed/ significantly rubbed, not torn/ written upon/ faded, etc.) would have an estimated retail value in the range of $350-$400. With a little more wear, $200-$250. In truly excellent condition (appearing rarely or not used) $500-$600.
