I have a wee little scots hat, soldiers type very old by the looks of it. Has a tiny silver{?} thistle sewed onto the front tails down the back, red pompom on top, piped in black. The material looks modern or somewhat lined with red shiny fabric. stitching seems sewing machine. would fit a very large doll or a baby's head. Would like to know if its meaningful or of any value. Looks like Royal Stewart tartan.
Already Tried: It was given to me last evening. I do not know any history.
Hi,My name is XXXXX XXXXX it will be my pleasure to help you with this question. Are you able to upload a picture of this hat? If you need help doing that, I can help.
I dont have a camera. am 75 and very unsophisticated on the computer.
Not to worry. I'll do the best I can with the information at hand.It sounds as if you have a darling baby's. These have been made in Scotland since 1845.If your hat is in excellent condition, its current retail (replacement or insurance) value is approximately $50. If you were to sell it, you could expect to get the fair market (private sale or auction) value of approximately 40% of the retail amount.I hope this answer has been helpful to you.
