Customer Question

Looking for an appraisal to sell. 20" x 24" Original George Silk photograph printed on wood of Prince Phillip sailing at the Cowes Regatta. He is the famous sports photographer for Life and Sports Illustrated Magazine. This originally ran in a June 1962 issue of SI. This piece hung at the Baltimore Museum of art and and travelled in the Man in Sport International Exhibit.

Hello, Do you have some sort of authentication for the photograph? When you say original is it a limit edition print?

Customer replied 338 days and 21 hours ago.

What you see in the photos is what I have. My father purchased these from the museum after.

I say original because it isn't a typically photograph on gloss stock. It is a print on wood mounted specifically for the exhibit and is from the period.

Sorry the photo did not initially come through the system, prior to my previous message. Is there any damage issues to the photograph?

Customer replied 338 days and 20 hours ago.

Those are scratches that appear in the photo. It could benefit a professional cleaning as well.

Based on your description and condition of the photograph as well as its categorization of being a museum piece, I would place a fair market value of $350-$500 on your photograph, after you have it cleaned it should be worth around $600. It should be insured for $800 replacement value.
